About one in three adults have some form of cardiovascular disease. Identification, detection, evaluation and management of risk factors are part of standard clinical practice. Novel emerging lipid and non-lipid risk factors have been identified and have potential to improve risk stratification and facilitate more intensive targeted treatment. Accordingly, BioReference Laboratories Inc, (BRLI, Inc) developed the Advanced Cardiovascular Testing (ACT) to improve the identification of patients at risk and facilitate the management and treatment of patients who have or are in danger of developing heart disease.

ACT identifies at-risk patients otherwise missed with traditional lipid testing, provides the patients global risk score, includes tests that are endorsed by the Heart Health organizations and guidelines, has quick turnaround times, and convenient ordering and reporting with a patient-friendly report.  Parameters tested for include LDL Particle Number, ApoB, ApoB/ApoA1 ratio, Non-HDL cholesterol, Lipoprotein (a), Direct LDL, hsCRP, and Lp-PLA2.

-ACT provides more parameters to detect and manage patients for cardiovascular disease (CVD) while helping to detect impending cardiac disease
-Combines standard lipid tests with new lipid and non-lipid biomarkers which can help in screening for CVD
-Provides Framingham risk score and allows to mange patients based on individual risk
-ACT testing profile is designed to improve risk stratification and guide management of the growing population of adults with established CVD or at risk for its development
