About one in three adults have some form of cardiovascular disease. Identification, detection, evaluation and management of risk factors are part of standard clinical practice. Novel emerging lipid and non-lipid risk factors have been identified and have potential to improve risk stratification and facilitate more intensive targeted treatment.
