Clinical Utility:

Prolactin is a protein synthesized and stored by the alpha cells of the anterior pituitary gland. The main function for prolactin is stimulation of milk production. Prolactin is regulated by the brain chemical dopamine. Levels of prolactin are typically high during pregnancy and remain high immediately after delivery to assist with lactation.

Collection Instructions:
