3707 : Anti-Mullerian Hormone
INFORMATION:
Alternate Name:
ANTI-MULLERIAN (AMH)
Methodology:
Chemiluminescence
Clinical Utility:
Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is expressed in the ovarian granulosa cells. In women of child-bearing age AMH can be used as a surrogate biomarker of ovarian reserve. Low values may correspond to a low number of viable ovocytes, resulting in minimal or less responsiveness to IVF treatment. A rapidly decreasing level may indicate the imminent onset of menopause. Elevated levels of AMH are associated with polycystic ovary disease (PCOS).
